Again, Spain Deliver The Goods

Daniel Diez had a double-double to pace four players in double figure scoring as Spain remained perfect in Group C of the U18 European Championship with a 72-63 victory over France.

Diez had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Alejandro Abrines Redondo had 13 points, Guillermo Hernangomez scored 11 points and Jaime Fernandez collected 10 points, three rebounds and six assists.

France finished second in the group in dropping to 2-1 despite 14 points and 10 rebounds from Mouhammadou Jaiteh and 10 points from Hugo Invernizzi.

The game was tied throughout with the biggest lead in the firstĀ  quarter the score at the buzzer with Spain leading 23-18 on the heels of a 6-0 run.

The Spaniards pushed their lead to nine points at 35-26 and led 38-33 at halftime.

France got to within 43-42 but couldn't reclaim the lead and trailed 50-46 after three periods.

Spain led 61-57 when the Iberians went on a 9-1 run to open a 70-58 advantage.
