France Defence Too Much For Latvia

Ulysse Adjagba and William Howard both scored 14 points in leading France to a comfortable 66-46 victory over Latvia to start Group C play with a victory at the U18 European Championship Men.

Livio Jean-Charles hit for 11 points and Hugo Invernizzi added 10 points while Kevin Dinal and Mouhammadou Jaiteh combined for 23 rebounds for the French.

Ojars Silins paced Latvia with 15 points and Janis Berzins tallied 13 in a losing effort.

The game started as a defensive struggle for both teams as it was 9-9 after one period. Latvia led 21-15 before France scored the final seven points of the second quarter for a 22-21 lead at the break.

France went on a 12-0 run to start the second half and led by 15 points, 43-28 after three quarters.

Latvia pulled to within 43-33 but France ended all doubts with a  10-2 surge for a 53-34 lead.
