France won the bronze medal in the 2004 U18 European Championship after beating Italy 74-68 in the game for 3rd place. France came really close to losing another game that seemed secured in its hands, but although Italy took the lead deep into the 4th quarter France had Johan Petro to save the day, and carry his team to a medal. |

More HeadlinesThe first Semi-Final of this Championship lasted until the very last second before one team had made it into the Final brackets. France led for the majority of the game, despite a 10-0 opener by Turkey, and opened the last quarter with a 10 point lead of its own. However, Turkey stopped the French squad on no more than 7 points in the last quarter and with a great finish by Akyol and big center Savas took over the game and got the first ticket to the Final. |

The first quarter-final saw a match-up between Israel and France. The Israelis came from the top of Group B, following a big push after 2 wins in a row. France, however, came from the opposite end after 2 losses in a row and the 4th place in Group A. |
