Club Team 2012-13: UWIC Archers (Great Britain-EBL) Career: St Bonaventure (USA-NCAA, 2001-06), Rhondda Rebels (Great Britain-EBL, 2006-07), UWIC Archers (Great Britain-EBL, 2007-2013)
The experienced guard may not have shot to the best of her ability at two major tournaments so far, but her failure to find the net on a consistent basis is surpassed by the leadership she brings to the floor. That experience is something Coach Jennings utilised when he coached her during his lengthy tenure with UWIC Archers, where Collins is now an on-court coach herself. She was named English Basketball League Player of the Year this season and this further highlights her importance to the national team. Raised in Italy and the USA, she played at St Bonaventure where she had an impressive college career and has stepped out in EuroCup Women with Rhondda Rebels. She is unflappable when handling the ball and defensively sound. Her court smarts are beyond question and having been given plenty of minutes under Coach Maher in the last few years, she should continue to be an integral part of the rotation. |
