The youngest member of the Great Britain squad at the 2012 Olympics, Lawrence played for England in the 2008 U18 European Championship before moving up to U20 level with Great Britain, captaining the team at the 2011 U20 European Championship. He made his senior debut in 2011 against the Netherlands, eventually winning a spot on the 12-man roster for EuroBasket 2011. Last spring, he completed a four-year scholarship stint at the College of Charleston in South Carolina before a spell in NBA Summer League with the Washington Wizards. He is the son of Renaldo Lawrence who was selected by the San Diego Clippers in the eighth round of the 1979 NBA Draft but who spent most of his professional career in the BBL.
