Denmark Look Strong in Ireland

Denmark completed an excellent 4 days of preparation for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers at the Four Nations Tournament in Ireland. The Danes, who were defeated in their opening game against Turkey, beat their final two opponents Ireland and England to emerge as the competition winners.

They led by as many as 8 points in the first quarter, before the home team came back to lead 46:45 at the half. In the 4th quarter, Denmark opened up a 10-point advantage and although Ireland got back to within two on 2 free throws from Billy Collins, Denmark quickly re-established the lead and finished 81:74 winners.

Denmark took on England, who had beaten Turkey 72:62, on the last day of play. The English struggled offensively without former NBA center John Amaechi who had injured an ankle against the Turks

The match stayed close for the opening few minutes, but Denmark soon stamped their authority on the game and ran out victors, 71:41.

Ireland, in the meantime, produced an encouraging display against Turkey. Despite trailing by 14 points in the first quarter (8:22), the Irish fought back for a 66:61 win.
