Dynamo Moscow edged Lotos PKO BP 86-75 in Moscow on Tuesday in the opening game of their eighth-finals play-offs tie in the EuroLeague Women.

In a real nail-biter, the score was knotted at 71-71 three minutes from the end when Russian guard Olga Firsova buried a three-pointer to give Dynamo the lead for good.

The shot gave Firsova her only points of the game.

Natalia Waligorska's jumper with two minutes left cut the deficit to 74-73, but Dynamo hit back, going on a 12-0 run over the next  1:50, with American star Seimone Augustus and Ieva Kublina of Latvia both scoring five points in that winning surge.

Lotos had taken a 46-39 half-time lead but Dynamo responded with Tatiana Popova's jumper putting her team in front at 54-53 with three minutes to go in the third quarter.

Latvian sensation Anete Jekabsone-Zogota, who is one of the leading contenders for FIBA Europe's Player of the Year honors, led Dynamo in scoring with 23 points while Augustus contributed  17 and Kublina finished with 11.

American power forward Chamique Holdsclaw had a game-high 28 points in defeat while she also hauled down 10 boards.

Dynamo, who out-rebounded Lotos 39-28, were superior shooting the ball on the night.

They were 26 of 45 (57.8%) inside the arc and five of 16 (31.3%) from three-point range.

The visitors were 28 of 55 (50.9%) from two-point range and just two of nine (22.2%) from long range.

Dynamo travel to Poland on February 8.
