Ros Casares Valencia made one of the biggest name signings in the EuroLeague Women this season in the form of Chamique Holdsclaw. The US forward arrived in Spain to a team facing a domestic and EuroLeague crisis, and coach Olaf Lange was fired shortly after her debut.
It has taken some time for Holdsclaw to make an impact, but based on this week's performance, both Holdsclaw and Valencia seem to finally be on the right track.
The Spanish team took on Group B giants Dynamo Moscow in Valencia and produced a convincing 85-76 victory.
Facing a formidable Dynamo front line of Kamila Vodickova, Elena Baranova and Elena Shakirova, Holdsclaw more than held her own. She led her team with 20 points and 11 rebounds and the win puts Valencia into 4th place in the group, well on course for a play-off berth.
Holdsclaw struggled in her first few outings for the Spanish side, but in her last 3 contests she has shown the form which made her one of the top players in NCAA history. She has shot 61% from the field in those 3 games, and averaged 24 ppg and 13 rpg.
