Lotos Gdynia have made two major personnel changes, signing US players Chelsea Newton and Temeka Johnson in a bid to revive their EuroLeague Women fortunes before the quarter-final play-offs.
The Polish champions, who lost star center Margo Dydek before the start of the season, have struggled in their European campaign, winning just two games in the preliminary round of the EuroLeague Women.
Despite stumbling to a 2-8 record, Gdynia scraped through to the quarter-final play-offs and will be hoping that new signings Chelsea Newton and Temeka Johnson will assist them in their three game series with Hungarian outfit MiZo Pecs.
Johnson, a 160 cm point guard, made an impressive WNBA debut in 2005. She earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honours with the Washington Mystics, finishing second in the league in assists (5.2 assists per game) while also averaging 9.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
The 180cm Newton also made her WNBA debut in 2005 and although she did not garner the same individual awards as her new team-mate, she was a member of the Sacramento Monarchs championship winning team.
