Career: Sokol Hradec Kralove (Czhec Republic-ZBL, 2001-04), South Carolina (USA-NCAA, 2004-08), Bourges (France-LFB, 2009-110
After impressing for her country at various youth levels, Ilona Burgrova was 26-years-old before she was finally selected for a major tournament last year at the age of 26 when she played at the FIBA World Championship Women. She certainly responded, helping the National Team to a silver medal with a consistent contribution from start to finish. Showing she can be a real inside presence at this level, she rebounded well and proved a capable finisher around the hoop. A smart player who can get up and down the floor well for her size, Burgrova has spent her pro-career playing in the French league and EuroLeague Women for Bourges. Earlier in her career she spent a number of years at college in the NCAA with South Carolina and also played at the U21 World Championship Women. While at the age of 19 she pushed for a place at EuroBasket Women 2003 she failed to make the final cut. |
