MKB Euroleasing Sopron have booked their first ever ticket to a EuroLeague Women Final Four after completing a two-game sweep of Bourges Basket.
Jelena Milovanovic scored 21 points to lead them to a 70-63 win in Hungary on Friday night, making far easier work of it than they did in the opening game on Tuesday when they had to hold on for a 68-65 victory.
MKB Euroleasing Sopron promised Bourges a fight in their EuroLeague Women Quarter-Finals clash and gave them one in the opening game on Tuesday night.
The Hungarian team travelled to France and led by 17 points at the end of the third quarter before being forced to hold on at the end for a 68-65 triumph.
MKB Euroleasing Sopron coach Norbert Székely admits his side will have to spring a big upset against Bourges in order to reach the EuroLeague Women Final Four.
The French giants have won the competition three times in their history and with home-court advantage in the best-of-three Quarter-Finals, they are favorites to advance.
Bourges make no apologies for being a tough-as-nails team on defense and that approach certainly paid a huge dividend on Wednesday as they shut down Gambrinus Brno in the fourth quarter to win their pivotal play-off showdown 67-62.
With 7:09 left in the game, Gambrinus were in the driving seat after Eva Viteckova had given them a 59-53 lead and Hamchetou Maiga Ba's basket extended the advantage to eight with 5:51 to go.
