Bourges A Very Big Hurdle For MKB To Clear

17.02.2009

MKB Euroleasing Sopron coach Norbert Székely admits his side will have to spring a big upset against Bourges in order  to reach the EuroLeague Women Final Four.

The French giants have won the competition three times in their history and with home-court advantage in the best-of-three Quarter-Finals, they are favorites to advance.

"Bourges is one of the best clubs in Europe," Székely said.

"They are year by year on the top with high quality work. All of their players understand their jobs on the court and can realize what the coach asks of them."

Székely says one of Bourges' strengths is their continuity.

"Their biggest advantage is that they have played for many years in the same system, and with the same key players," he said.

Sopron have been very solid defensively this year but so have Bourges, and Székely knows his players will have to come up with something special to win.

"I always say that defense is the key to win a game," he said.

"But, against Bourges it will be not enough... We also need a creative offense if we intend on making a sensation. We will try!"

Speaking of sensations,  there has  been none bigger in Hungary this year than Jelena Milovanovic, Sopron's Serbia center.

Milovanovic has warned Bourges not to expect an easy time.

"It will be a very hard game," she said of Tuesday's opener.

"Bourges has a great team but I can promise that we will fight until the end ... "
