Bourges Basket advanced to the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague Women with a 68-53 triumph over Wisla Can-Pack of Poland.

The French giants, who got 15 points and eight rebounds from Cathy Melain, and 10 points and nine boards from Elaine Godin, stay on course for another chance at glory in the competition they have won three times in their history.

Bourges grabbed a stranglehold on this game in the first quarter when they took an early 11-4 lead with Melain scoring five points in the spurt.

By the end of the first quarter the lead had ballooned to 21-12. Bourges extended that to 27-12 after a pair of free throws from Sabrina Reghaissia.

Wisla tried to claw their way back but got no closer than 11 points in the first half, and when Reghaissia hit from behind the arc with just 13 seconds left, Bourges led 44-28.

Wisla, who had played so bravely in the first game and pushed Bourges to the limit, closed the gap to 12 as Bourges scored just six points in the third quarter.

But the hosts got no closer as Bourges rediscovered their scoring touch in the fourth to close out the win.
