Bourges scraped a win against national rivals Tarbes in game one of their three-game EuroLeague Women series.

Nina Bjedov
Bourges, historically one of Europe's top clubs with 3 EuroLeague titles to their name, found it tough going against Tarbes. Despite an opening 10-0 run by the home team, Bourges were unable to build the kind of lead which could allow them to relax.

Tarbes were back in contention in the second quarter, taking the lead at 28-29, but some accurate shooting from Spanish international Laia Palau saw Bourges take a 42-35 lead into halftime.

Bourges managed to keep their noses in front in the third quarter and led by 6 points at the start of the fourth. Tarbes battle bravely and trailed by just 2 points in the final minutes. But Bourges maintained their slender advantage and held on for the win, 69-67.

Serb & Montenegrin center Nina Bjedov displayed her best game of the season for Bourges, scoring a season high 22 points in the win. Young point guard Celine Dumerc was also at the top of her game. She scored 15 points on 6/8 shooting and dished 8 assists.

Gunta Basko led Tarbes with 17 points.
