Gambrinus Sika Brno team manager Jiri Hamza was more than pleased to have drawn French side USO Mondeville Basket in FIBA EuroLeague Women play-offs.
The Group B winners will be favourites against the side who finished only fourth in Group A, with Hamza relieved to have avoided a Russian side at this stage.
The winner of the tie will play Bourges, who finished level with Gambrinus in Group B after beating them 73-67 in their final group game on Tuesday.
Hamza said: "We are fully satisfied with the draw. It could not be better.
"The important thing is that we will not play a strong Russian team.
"We will play Bourges if we get past Mondeville in the first round but we are not scared.
"We have a much more experienced team than last season and I believe we can win one game in France."
Coach Jan Bobrovsky was more cautious following Tuesday's setback, saying:
"I am not so optimistic after the draw.
"We could have won in Bourges. We started poorly in the first quarter and we could not overturn the 19-point advantage of our opponents after that.
"We were unlucky in the closing stages as well."
Bobrovsky reckons his side should have scored more heavily against the weaker opposition during the group stages, and was especially disappointed with their 94-92 defeat to MKB Euroleasing Sopron.
"We do not have so high an index - like for example Valenciennes, Samara or Pecs - because we do not have big wins from games with weak opponents.
"We can do nothing about that now and we have to prepare as well as possible for play-offs.
"It is a pity that we lost the game in Sopron 94-92.
"I hope our loses in Sopron and Bourges were our last this season."
