Petronyte Dominates Czech Republic

Gintare Petronyte's jaw-dropping night of 37 points and 24 rebounds led strugglers Lithuania past the Czech Republic, 77-68 Thursday night at the UMCOR U18 European Championship Women in Novi Sad.

Petronyte was a one-woman wrecking crew.

Russia Bounce Back

Russia rebounded from Tuesday's defeat to Slovakia by beating the Czech Republic 78-60 at the UMCOR U18 European Championship for Women.

The Czechs had led through the first four minutes of the second half before the wheels came off.

Czechs Better France

The Czech Republic survived a late comeback by France to win 77-73 in the opening Group E game of the qualifying round at the U18 European Championship for Women.

Having taken a 73-64 lead going into the last minute, the Czechs  allowed their opponents to go on a 9-1 run to trail by just one with 15 seconds remaining.

Spain Group A Champs, Slovak Republic Advance

Defending champions Spain survived a late comeback from the Czech Republic to win 72-62 and clinch top spot in Group A at the the U18 European Championship for Women.

Having taken a 64-47 lead going into the last quarter, the Spaniards allowed their opponents to go on a 15-2 run and close to within four points with less than two minutes remaining.
