Czech Women Sweep Sweden

The Czech Republic completed a three-game sweep of Sweden on Thursday.

Having already reached the century mark in the first two games of the friendly series, the Czechs again registered 100 points in Brno, thrashing the Scandinavians 100-43.

The Czechs’ preparations for the European Championships have been disrupted by the ankle injury suffered by WNBA centre Kamila Vodickova of the Seattle Storm earlier this month.

Vodickova averaged 17 points and more than nine rebounds a game in qualifying as the Czechs went unbeaten in their group.

But they have impressed without her.

Even before the Swedes, the Czechs finished second in a six-team tournament in Turkey where the only side to beat them was traditional heavyweights Russia.

Coach Jan Bobrovsky will take his players to Spain in five days for a tournament in Cadiz which also includes Croatia, the Ukraine and their Spanish hosts.
