Irena Borecka and Ivana Vorackova appear to be battling for the final spot in the Czech Republic squad for the European Championships.
Coach Jan Bobrovsky will sorely miss Kamila Vodickova, the 6ft 4in centre who has not recovered from a badly sprained ankle picked up on WNBA duty with the Seattle Storm.
While playing for Gambrinus JME in the Euroleague, she was able to take part in qualifying and averaged 17 points and more than nine rebounds a game as the Czechs went unbeaten in their group.
The 22-year-old Borecka was a reserve forward in the Czech Republic's last European Championship squad, while USK BLEX Praha's Vorackova is hopeful of playing in her first major tournament for the Czechs.
The duo must impress in three friendlies against Turkey from September 12-14, games that will be played in Brno, Luhac and Tisnov.
The Czechs leave for Greece on September 17.
Bobrovsky's players have produced good results for most of the summer, losing only once in a friendly tournament in Turkey - Russia beat them 73-67 - and once in Spain where the hosts defeated them 68-53.
