U16 WOMEN

France faced no contest beating the Czech Republic by 68-39 in their opening match in Group C of the U16 European Championship Women.

The French started strongly but the Czech Republic showed ambition, keeping their opponents just five points away at the end of the first quarter.

After that, the story changed. Even with France rotating their team, they kept scoring while the Czechs felt more and more difficulties.

At half time, France had already a 14 points advantage (30-16).

The Czech team tried to react at the start of the third quarter, putting France away from the basket in the first four minutes.

The French returned strong and did not allow more than six points by the Czechs in the last quarter.

Louise Dambach led France with 18 points and four rebounds, while Ornella Bankole had 10 points and four rebounds.

Sarah Berankova was the best Czech scorer with 13 points.
