|Croatia center Ivana Tikvic had another inspiring perfomance with 19 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots |
Having waited seven years for a victory at Division A level at the U18 European Championship Women, Croatia needed just 24 hours to make them two in a row, as they recorded an 73-60 success over Slovak Republic on Saturday.
Thanks to this second consecutive win, Croatia take second place in Group C and, most importantly, a victory to their account in the Second Round.
The eventual winners trailed by double-digits at half time but turned the game on its head during the second half
The Croats made the necessary defensive adjustments to contain the dangerous Barbora Balintova, who had shot Slovak Republic into a 39-28 lead.
At the other end of the floor, Ivana Tikvic impressed yet again for Croatia while Ruzica Dzankic came alive from the perimeter to drain four triples on her way to a game-high 22 points.
It was the last fifteen minutes in particular when Croatia found their game-winning run, posting a 20-4 burst which blew Slovak Republic out of the water - despite the best efforts of Zofia Hruscakova who claimed a third successive double-double for the losing team.
