Sweden overcame a magnificent effort from Slovakia point guard Anton Gavel on Wednesday to remain unbeaten in Group C of EuroBasket Division B.

Looking to win promotion, the Swedes prevailed 64-58 despite a game-high 19 points and eight assists from Gavel, who went into the contest averaging 13 points and three assists.

Slovakia’s Rancik Injured

If Slovakia were hoping to have Martin Rancik available for EuroBasket Division B duty later this year, that's unlikely now after the Bilbao star suffered a major knee injury.

Rancik tore his cross ligament in his left knee and is to have further tests this week to confirm the extent of the injury.
