U16 WOMEN

Belgium let Slovakia shine but secured the win, 59-47, in the Qualifying Round of the U16 European Championship Women in Miskolc.

Julie Allemand started the game with a three-point-shot and ended it with another one, when there was only 1:26 to play in the last quarter and the Slovak Republic were only six points down.

This was unexpected, as Belgium entered the game as clear favourites, but the Slovaks did their best to prove they are the tournament's sleepers.

Katarina Urbanova and Veronika Remenarova were Slovakia's best scorers, with 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively.

As for the Belgians, the team continue to prove they are a serious contender for the medal

Julie Allemand led Belgium with 19 points and nine rebounds, being helped by Kyara Linskens (nine points and 10 rebounds) and Eva Devliegher (10 points and five rebounds).

Belgium stay undefeated and face Greece on Tuesday, while the Slovak Republic play Sweden and hope to move one step closer to the Quarter-Finals.
