Greece booked a quarter-final date with Spain at the U16 European Championships for Women, securing a spot in the knock-out stages by beating Slovakia 76-69.

Anna Stamolamprou hit 31 points as the Greeks took fourth place in Group F with a 3-2 record to set up what will be a daunting tie.

However they were pushed to the finish by Slovakia who looked set to pick up a surprise and possibly qualification securing victory when they led 15-6 late in the first quarter.

But a 7-0 run in the second put Greece in front for the first time as they edged 39-38 clear at half-time.

The sides were tied at 52-52 late in the third but eventually the Greeks produced what proved to be a decisive surge midway through the fourth, going 73-63 ahead and withstanding a late barrage.

Zofia Hruscáková had a game-high 32 points for Slovakia who drop into the play-offs for ninth place.
