If you need to understand the importance of Darko Sokolov to FYR of Macedonia there is only one statistic that matters and this is the amount of time he is afforded on the court. During the Qualifying Round last summer he was given more time than any other player other than Pero Antic and that underlines how this solid guard has developed as an integral element of the senior National Team. Rather than his offensive production, it is his superb defensive qualities which are like gold dust for Coach Dokuzovski. His hard work off the ball is also a big element along with his composure. In fact, despite playing a lot of minutes and handling the ball, his safe hands are a huge bonus with one of the best turnover per minutes records anywhere for a point guard at the elite level. He is surely destined to play a major role at EuroBasket 2011.
