Jasmin Hukic

Career: Sloboda Dita Tuzla (Bosnia-Herzegovina – First Division, 1996-2001), Union Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-First Division, 2001-03), Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel-First Division, 2003-04); Hemofarm Vrsac (Serbia-Montenegro-Superleague, Goodyear League, 2004-05), Ural Great Perm (Russia-Superleague, 2005-…).

It has been a successful year for Jasmin Hukic. The long, thin swingman became the first player in the Goodyear League to win two champion’s ring after clinching his second title with Hemofarm. The captain of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated the first trophy in the first year of the Goodyear League’s competition in 2002, when he was playing for Union Olimpija. With the Vrsac team he also played for the title of the Serbo-Montenegrin Superleague, losing to Partizan in a competitive final series. These efforts never stopped Jasmin playing for his home country in international competitions; he has been named captain of the Bosnian team and proudly says: “My homeland national squad is sacrosanct”. As for the chances of his team in Belgrade, he points out to the extremely difficult group Bosnia will play in. “Nevertheless, we are deep enough for me to be confident we can make a surprise and earn our chance in the 1/8 finals.” EuroBasket 2005 will be Hukic’s fourth in the jersey of the Bosnian national team. The Tuzla native started his career in Sloboda Dita, where he won national titles in 2000 and 2001. He moved on to Olimpija Ljubljana, where he clinched the Slovenian championship the following year, as well as two national cup titles. After successful stints in Israel and Serbia-Montenegro, Hukic will continue his career in Russia, where he has signed for Ural Great Perm.
