|Ivan Lilov was one of five Bulagrian players to score in double digits|
Bulgaria have seized control of Group A in the EuroBasket 2015 1st Qualification Round with a powerful display against Iceland at home that secured them an 88-59 triumph, their second in as many games.
While Bulgaria followed up in style on their vital 84-68 win on the road against Romania last Thursday, the Sunday clash was Iceland's premiere in the competition.
Once Bulgaria grabbed a 12-10 lead midway through the opening quarter on an Ivan Lilov lay-up, they started pulling away from their guests with admirable consistency and held a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The hosts wasted 11 free throws but they dominated the battle on the glass so convincingly, that they out-rebounded the Nordic side 56-22.
Bulgaria collected 17 offensive rebounds and scored 20 second-chance points to make up for their lack of accuracy from the foul line, while their enormous frontcourt advantage also allowed them to take shots close to the rim almost at will, as 50 of their 88 points came from inside the paint.
Five Bulgarian players scored in double digits but interestingly Lilov, a guard, led the way with 14 points, while Deyan Ivanov registered a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds and his twin brother Kaloyan also had 12 points, adding seven boards.
Iceland's Jakob Sigurdarson finished with a game-high 19 points and Jon Stefansson had 13 points in defeat.
