Belgium had scraped a one-point win the previous day against Israel on a late shot from Ordane Kanda-Kanyinda to clinch their place in the last four.

Von Uthmann followed with a three-pointer and Hakanson split two free-throws to make it 62-57 with 1:05 to play.

After Kanda-Kanyinda reduced the arrears to 62-59 on a lay-up with 50 seconds to go, Von Uthmann connected again from behind the arc to push the lead to six.

The contest was knotted at 64-64 with 2:59 to go after Kristijan Nikolov split two free-throws for the Balkan side.

Artzi drilled a jumper to start a 5-0 run that put Israel in the ascendency.

Nikolov answered with a jumper to cut the deficit to three but Blatt, whose father David is the coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Russia's Olympic team, pushed the lead back to six with his last shot from long range.
