Classification Round-Up: Spain, Russia To Battle For 5th

Spain will face Russia in Sunday's 5th-6th place game at the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz, France.

The Spaniards beat Italy 84-72 thanks to some balanced scoring which saw five players score in double-digits.

Greece, Ukraine Survive Relegation Battle

Greece beat Israel 80-54 to finish 3-0 in Group G of the Classification Round at the U18 European Championship Men 2009 in Metz France.

The result saw Greece hold on to their Division A status while the loss for Israel - combined with Ukraine's 79-70 win over the Czech Republic - saw them fall to 1-2 only good enough for third place and more importantly relegate them to Division B.

Italy Streak Continues As Bulgaria Fall

Italy won their third game in a row when they beat Bulgaria 76-56 in the Qualifying Round at the U18 European Championship Men 2009, in Hagondange, France.

The win saw Italy improve to a 3-2 mark in Group F and they became the only team so far to win all games in this round.

Russia crushed Bulgaria 95-57 in the Qualifying Round at the U18 European Championship Men 2009, in Hagondange, France.

Despite being without three key players - Pavel Antipov (virus), Ivan Lazarev (ankle) and Gleb Plotnikov (knee) - the Russians got off to a quick start, taking a 37-9 lead to put the game out of reach.
