Maxima Broker Kosice wasted no time in giving their fans something to get excited about with a 67-65 comeback win at Lattes Montpellier on the opening night of EuroLeague Women action.
With the French team on top at 62-51 with 6:43 remaining, Sidney Spencer's jump shot sparked an 11-0 run to tie the contest with just 2:04 remaining.
Elodie Bertal ended the Lattes Montpellier drought with a three-pointer just 1:35 from the end, only for Liron Cohen to then knock down a three for Kosice to knot the contest at 65-65 with 1:18 to go.
The home side had a chance to go back on top but after missing twice from long range and getting the offensive rebound each time, they turned the ball over with 32 seconds to go.
Bertal was then called for a foul with 17 seconds left, giving the visitors a new shot-clock.
Kosice ran the clock down to one second before Israel international Cohen made a lay-up for the two-point win.
The Slovakian outfit finished eight of 17 from long range on the night compared to five of 15 for Lattes Montpellier.
The French team committed 19 turnovers to 15 for the visitors.
Cathrine Kraayeveld poured in 20 points for the winners while Sheana Mosch had a game-high 21 in defeat for Montpellier.
