Karnay Makes Case For The Defense

Kosit 2013 Kosice coach Vladimir Karnay hailed his side's defensive performance in their 66-56 win over Dexia Namur in EuroLeague Women Group C.

Forward Ivana Jalcova scored 16 points for Kosit who moved to third in the pool with a 3-4 record.

"We played quality defence so our opponent was under pressure during the whole game. The final score was low but we conceded only 56 points and that is testament to our defending," said Karnay.

"Dexia took the lead 51-50 after two three-pointers in the final quarter, but my players showed their self-belief to come back.

"They answered with a series of points and that decided our win. I am delighted that all the girls played a good game."
The win means that Kosit are in good position to book their place in the eighth-finals and manager Daniel Jendrichovsky is urging the fans to get behind the team.
"I am very happy that we won and it means we will have a  nice Christmas," he said.
"We need to win one more game to advance to the next round and that is important for our fans.
"I  believe that this win will encourage them to come and support us in our last home game against Gambrinus Brno."
