Kosit 2013 Kosice coach Vladimir Karnay insists his players will have to work extra hard to make up for the absence of star player Janel McCarville in their EuroLeague Women clash with Lotos Gdynia.

American center McCarville missed the 62-58 defeat to US Valenciennes last week with a groin injury and is set to be on the sidelines once again on Wednesday.

Kosit are currently bottom of Group C with a 1-3 record and Karnay believes they have to win to keep alive their chances of progressing to the Eighth-final play-offs.

"We all know we have to win on Wednesday if we want to have a chance of advancing from our group and it will certainly be hard work," said Karnay.

"We will probably be without Janel McCarville as she still has a problem with her groin. She hasn't trained since last week and if it is bad for us, we must cope with that.

"The girls know that she will probably not play so they have to fight more for the win and we will try to prepare them as well as we can."

Gdynia are third in the group with a 2-2 record and Karnay is wary of the threat from American duo Dominique Canty and Chamique Holdsclaw.

"Gdynia have good players from abroad and Americans Canty and Holdsclaw are their most important players," added Karnay.

"We will have to defend well against those two players on Wednesday and we will only win if we produce a high quality performance. I believe in my team."
