Cajasol Sevilla have endured a season of disappointment in Spain but there may be some light at the end of the tunnel after the team stormed into the Top 16 of the EuroChallenge on Tuesday. Bottom of the ACB with just two wins all season, Cajasol destroyed BK Ventspils 98-51 on Tuesday to improve to 3-3 and clinch second place in Group A. Pedro MartÃnez, the Cajasol coach, said: "I congratulate my players because they have played with good intensity and it has been decisive." Juanjo Triguero had 16 points and seven rebounds for Cajasol, who blew the game wide open in the first quarter by outscoring Ventspils 24-6. Triguero said: "Finally, the game was very easy because we broke it open in the first quarter with a 24-6 lead. "Maybe this game will serve us in the ACB and inspire our work for the victory against Manresa." Cajasol out-rebounded Ventspils 37-26 and they also shot much better from all over the court. From long range, the Sevilla team was 10 of 18 and inside the arc they nailed 28 of 47. The visitors from Latvia were just 14 of 30 from two-point range, and five of 26 on their three-ball attempts. |
