She’s back! Boonen was not selected for the qualifying round in 2007, but the 28-year-old does not want to miss her second EuroBasket Women after her first experience in Greece where she averaged 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds in 15 minutes per game. Boonen is a true world traveller. After four years at Rutgers University, the center from Ghent packed her bags in search of experience and spent time with Valencia (Spain), Clermont (France), Las Palmas (Spain), Extrugasa (Spain), Besiktas Istanbul (Turkey), and Ramat Hasharon (Israel) where she averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in EuroCup Women before moving to Viterbo last season.
