Poland recovered from their opening game defeat to Belgium to finish top of the pile in a warm-up event they hosted for the U20 European Championship over the weekend.  | | Giedrius Staniulis was in fine form for Lithuania but could not avoid the loss against Poland |
The Poles beat Lithuania 95-86 in the final game in Ostrowie Wielkopolski after getting 20 points from Sebastian Szymanski. Giedrius Staniulis scored 14 points for the Lithuanians. Norway finished third by defeating Belgium, 76-70. Poland got off on the wrong foot in their opening game, falling hard to Belgium, 99-80. The Belgians failed to build on that big win, however, losing 104-80 next time out against Lithuania. The Norwegians, whose other results included a 62-52 defeat to Lithuania and a 54-52 setback to Poland, will have another three games coming up from July 2-4 when they take on Denmark, Great Britain and Sweden in Nyborg. Lithuania are the only country playing in the U20 European Championship Division A in Croatia, while Poland, Belgium and Norway will take part in the Division B event in Austria. |
