It seems like Fenerbahce players are out to set the initial trends of the season. Penny Taylor was the EuroLeague Women Player Of The Week after the first round of games. On Wednesday, teammate Diana Taurasi followed suit. The American super-star was dominant in Fenerbahce's stunning home floor win against Gospic, scoring 34 points with 13-for-21 overall (3-for-5 from behind the arc) and dishing 7 assists. She established a hard to beat efficiency rating record of 41 to claim the EuroLeague Women Player of Week 2 award. In addition to monopolising the Player of the Week award so far, Fenerbahce have set the bar high in another statistic field early on in the season with Wednesday's 109-92 victory, as the 201 point total of the free-scoring Istanbul game might prove tough to overcome during the course of the season. Even when seen in this context though, one player who was miles away from Istanbul on Wednesday must feel hard done by Taurasi's achievements. That night, Isabelle Yacoubou did everything humanly possible to ensure victory would go Schio's way at Gorzow. She had 31 points hitting an outlandish 12-for-14 from the field and 10 rebounds. Her efficiency rating of 39 would be enough on most other weeks to grace her with the title, but this was Taurasi's day.
