A thrilling buzzer beating triple by Maja Miljkovic handed Bourges Basket a second life at Beretta-Famila Schio in EuroLeague Women Group D but they couldn't take advantage as Liron Cohen and Rafaella Masciadri exploded in overtime to help secure a 77-68 success for the hosts.
62-61 behind in the extra period, Israeli guard Cohen drained two big triples on her way to seven points in overtime, a feat matched by Masciadri who finished the job for Schio with the last seven points of the game.
In a game when both teams had been patchy to say the least in terms of finding any kind of offensive rhythm, the sudden contribution of the duo who ironically had been relatively ineffectual during regulation time was always going to be pivotal.
It was a real roller coaster of emotion for the home fans who watched as Bourges Basket opened up a commanding 25-16 lead early in the second quarter.
The hosts responded and a triple by Elisabetta Moro completed the comeback and handed Schio a 31-29 advantage and they still led heading into the second half at 34-31.
However the hosts then dried up under the usual Bourges defensive pressure and could only convert five points in almost 8 minutes of action as the momentum swung back the way of the French club at 45-39 with two minutes remaining in the penultimate period.
Once again Schio responded and scored the last seven points of the period to grab the lead back - something they extended to six points during the final ten minutes but it wasn't enough to see off Bourges as they forced the extra period before ultimately falling short in overtime.
Cohen finished with a game high 20 points.
