Katja Munck

Career: Hannover (Germany-2.Bundesliga, 1996-1998), Halchter/Linden (Germany-2.Bundesliga, 1998/1999), Halchter/Linden (Germany-Bundesliga, 1999-2001), Marburg (Germany-Bundesliga, 2001-2004), Wasserburg (Germany-Bundesliga, 2004-2006, Schio (Italy-Lega A, 2006-07)

Besides Linda Fröhlich, this 1.82 meter forward is the only German player seeing legitimate EuroLeague Women minutes this season. With the Italian powerhouse Familia Basket Schio, Munck played 25 minutes a game while scoring 8.6 points per contest. Even though her output is slightly lower in Italy’s Lega (15.3 min, 5.5 ppg, 1.6 rpg) than it was in Germany, the 28-year-old made a name for herself in Europe. An excellent player on the fast-break, Munck was at one time the fourth best scorer in Germany’s Bundesliga, averaging 18.5 points per game for Wasserberg in 2005. Among national team players, she is known for her fine humour and her quick witted comments. With 54 games played for Germany, Munck is one of the most experienced players on coach Imare Szittay’s team.
