Laura Macchi is hoping that Beretta Famila's EuroCup Women triumph over BC Moscow signals the dawn of a new era at the club.
The title win earlier this month was the first of her career.
"It was a relief for the entire team because we have completed a long and arduous competition," Macchi said. "The important thing is to take the title home."
"Perhaps Moscow were not the strongest team we had faced in the competition but they were certainly not easy rivals. It has been to our credit."
Macchi , who played for Italy last summer at the EuroBasket Women, was earlier this week named in the preliminary squad for the Azzurre's 2008 Division A games.
There are several other Italy players in the Schio squad as well.
"We (Schio) have proved that we are not lacking in quality as many had suggested following the EuroBasket.
"We have proved to be at the level required, which is a message of hope for the future of the national team."
Next year, Schio are planning to take part in the much tougher EuroLeague Women.
"We will see for the EuroLeague Women," she said. "It´s a dream of every player and we need a team that can be strong physically."
