Anosike Boost Gorzow In Title Challenge

Elitzur Ramla's loss is Polish title contenders KSSSE AZS-PWSZ Gorzow's gain.

Nicky Anosike, who averaged 18.5 points and 13.3 rebounds per game for Ramla in the EuroCup Women this season but had to be let go following the withdrawal of a club sponsor, joined up with her new team on Wednesday in Poland.

KSSSE AZS-PWSZ Gorzow, who were eliminated from the EuroCup Women in the last round by Dynamo Moscow, are level with Wisla Can Pack Krakow at the top of the Polish standings.

The 22-year-old Anosike, who won a couple of NCAA crowns under Tennessee's legendary coach Pat Summitt, said: "I always play to win and I want that to be the case also in Gorzow.

"I came here to help the team in the fight for the championship.

"I hope that with me, my new team can take first place."

Anosike's arrival was a big event at the club.

Just two hours after landing in Berlin, she was in Gorzow meeting club officials and having a brief meeting with local journalists and sponsors.

She received club scarf, a shirt with the number 21 and the keys to a car.

Anosike also plays in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx.
