Tartu Rock recorded a first success of the season at the third time of asking by easing past JDA Dijon 74-62 to leave the French club winless at the bottom of EuroChallenge Group D.

After opening the campaign with two losses, there was not only a palpable sense of relief at finally emerging with a victory, but also satisfaction in a strong performance from tip to buzzer.

Once Kristo Saage dropped a three-ball to put the Estonian team 19-10 ahead after seven minutes had elapsed, they took control and never looked back.

Dijon narrowed the gap to make it a one-shot game at 23-21, it was to be as close as they would get with a 9-0 run by the home team midway through the third period killing off their hopes.

That put Tartu Rock 57-40 ahead, and despite the visitors trying to launch a rescue mission at the start of the last quarter, the home side stayed composed.

Another perimeter score by Saage re-enforced their superiority and effectively wrapped up the win at 71-51 despite five minutes still remaining on the game clock.

The real star for Tartu Rock was Ivan Nelyubov who not only claimed 15 points from five of six floor shooting, but also coralled eight rebounds.

Zacherie Moss excelled in defeat with an economical 16 points for JDA Dijon.
