Fenerbahce have strengthened their bid for EuroLeague Women supremacy with the acquisition of Angel McCoughtry.
A recently crowned world champion with Team USA, McCoughtry was on the books of MKB Euroleasing Sopron but has moved to the Istanbul club, which paid a fee to the Hungarian outfit to secure her services.
Fenerbahce are getting quite a player.
While playing for Sopron against Fener on December 15, McCoughtry scored 39 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Turkish team still won the game, 92-81.
"It was a hard, painful decision," said Zoltán Török, the executive director of Sopron.
"I'm sure our team needs time to come back from this shock, but - because of out- and inside circumstances - we made this step.
"We would like to say 'Thank you' to Angel for the last few months and we wish that she realizes her dreams."
McCoughtry had a terrific European debut last year at Good Angels Kosice and then captured a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA World Championship in the Czech Republic.
