MKB Euroleasing Sopron beat Hungarian rivals Pécs 2010 over the weekend to put themselves in a confident frame of mind ahead of this week's EuroLeague Women clash with Lotos Gdynia.

Despite numerous injuries and using just seven players, Norbert Székely's team rolled to an 82-65 triumph.

The American duo of Angel McCoughtry and Amber Holt poured in 20 and 19 points, respectively, for Sopron.

Latvia international Zane Tamane added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Sopron had trailed in the first quarter, 23-22, but took command over the next 10 minutes and took a 45-36 lead to the break.

"We played a very good game," Székely said.

"It was in our hand from the beginning until the end.

"I would like to say a big thanks to our fans.

"They were our sixth player on the court."

Sopron will be hoping to recover Ekaterina Abramzon but Timea Czank is set to have a knee operation on Wednesday and will be sidelined for five to six months.

Her season, therefore, is over.

If Sopron beat Lotos in Hungary this week, they will look good bets to advance in the EuroLeague Women.

Pécs 2010, meanwhile, will try and bounce back when they take on TTT Riga in Latvia.
