MKB Euroleasing Sopron landed some early blows but Bourges knocked them out with a big run bridging the second and third quarters to win the opening game of their eighth-finals clash in the EuroLeague Women play-offs, 69-47.

Bourges had a strong finish to group play to leapfrog Wisla Can-Pack Krakow into second place and seize home-court advantage, and that came in handy after MKB took a 19-12 lead early in the second quarter.

Olexandra Gorbunova was on fire for the visitors, scoring nine of those points.

But Bourges, with the vocal home support behind them, closed the first-half on a 22-3 run with several players getting in on the scoring act and then claimed the first five points of the second half for a commanding 40-22 advantage.

 MKB Euroleasing never recovered.

Endene Miyem led a balanced scoring attack for Bourges with 14 points.

Sonja Petrovic, Bourges' Serbian international who was on Tuesday announced as the FIBA Europe's  Young Player of the Year, celebrated by scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Gorbunova had a game-high 17 points in defeat.

Bourges out-rebounded the Hungarian team 46-37.

Bourges' other Sonja, Croatia national team center Sonja Kireta, had eight of those boards to go with her 10 points.
