Teasley Player Of The Week

04.02.2006

MKB Euroleasing Sopron guard Nikki Teasley earns EuroLeague Women Player of the Week honours as the eighth-final play-offs draw to a close.

Teasley's side took on 2003 EuroLeague champions UMMC Ekaterinburg in a match-up that favoured the Russian side, who not only had the homecourt advantage, but had beaten Sopron twice in preliminary round action.

But in the upset of the round, Teasley led Sopron to two victories in the space of three days and a place in quarter-final play-offs.

Teasley is certainly no stranger to making big plays. It was her three-point buzzer beater in game two of the 2002 WNBA finals which gave the Los Angeles their second successive title.

Against Ekaterinburg, a team she played for in 2004, Teasley did whatever it took for Sopron to win. In game one she tallied 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists as Sopron produced an 80-77 road win to wrest the home court advantage away from the Russians.

Three days later, Sopron had the chance to close out the series and it was the 183cm Teasley who sparked the team to an 89-79 win.

This time Teasley did her damage from long range as she hit for a game high 27 points on 6/13 shooting from behind the arc.

Sopron will now take on Valenciennes in the quarter-final play-offs.
