Duane Woodward will be a key player for Proteas EKA AEL at the EuroCup Final Four after helping the Cypriot club sweep Khimik in a best-of-three quarter-final series. One of finest shooters in the competition, the New York native spent the previous three years in Italy but returned to Limassol for a second stint. The outfit's participation in the EuroCup was a motivating factor to come back. With the pressure now on Proteas to bring home some silverware, FIBA Europe wanted to lighten the mood so we spent `24 Seconds With Duane Woodward'. FIBA Europe: What's the first thing you think about when you get up in the morning, Duane? Woodward: What am I going to eat. I'm actually not a big breakfast eater, but I'm already thinking about what my meals are going to be for the rest of the day. FIBA Europe: If you could choose a car to drive to work in each day, what would it be? Woodward: I'm a Lexus guy FIBA Europe: The best basketball in Europe is played where now? Woodward: I think now the best basketball in Europe is played in Spain. FIBA Europe: Who do you think is the best basketball player of all time? Woodward: I'd have to say Michael FIBA Europe: What's your favorite meal, now? Woodward: I've been in Italy the past three years. I'm a good pasta guy, got accustomed to their ways. Salad, a pasta, a nice steak, and a glass of red wine FIBA Europe: What music do you listen to before a game? Woodward: I listen to hip hop, but it depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm trying to get really, really excited for a game, it's hip-hop. Actually every game is a big game for me. FIBA Europe: What has been your most embarrassing moment on a basketball court? Woodward: That's a good one. I need to think. I've never shot an air ball at the free throw line, or blown an open layup, so I can't say that. A couple of times I've had big games but then had bad games. I remember once in the FIBA Europe Cup against Hapoel Tel Aviv I had 38 points there and they changed their defense so when we came back here, I had four. FIBA Europe: Tell us what the best movie is that you have seen, lately. Best movie: I like the new American Gangster Movie. It's in New York, and I'm a big Denzel Washington fan. |
