|Thomas Schreiner's 20 points paced Switzerland's dominant victory|
Austria kept up their chase for top spot in Group C of the EuroBasket 2015 1st Qualification Round after cruising to a 98-65 victory in Luxembourg on Saturday.
Austria's defeat to Switzerland last time out handed the Swiss the initiative in the group - but Austria put the pressure on their rivals with this win on the back of a dominant third quarter.
The lead changed hands five times in the first period but ended up in Austrian hands after Anton Maresch made a three to beat the buzzer.
The teams traded baskets in the second quarter but Austria edged it once again to hold a 44-37 advantage at the half before really turning the screw after the restart.
The hosts could not contain their visitors without fouling and the Austrians exploited this with accurate shooting from the free-throw line. This was a factor in the decisive 12-0 run that stretched the lead to an unassailable 19 in the third quarter.
Thomas Schreiner also sank one of his four three-pointers in the pivotal sequence on his way to a team-high 20 points.
He would also make all six of his foul shots, as Austria hit 30 in total, easing to a comfortable victory by the end.
Rasid Mahalbasic added 16 of his own to Austria's total while Samy Picard paced Luxembourg with 22 to go with seven rebounds.
Luxembourg lag behind in Group C without a win from their first four games but Austria will continue to test Switzerland's resolve when they host Denmark on Tuesday.
