Aleksandar Radojevic

Career: Lovcen Cetinje (Yugoslavia-YUBA League, 1995-96); Buducnost Podgorica (Yugoslavia-YUBA League, 1996-97), Barton County (USA-Juco, 1997-99), Toronto Raptors (NBA, 1999-2001), Denver Nuggets (NBA-2001), Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-First Division, 2001-02), Pallacanestro Livorno (Italy-LEGA, 2002) Telekom Baskets Bonn (Germany-First Division, 2002-03); PAOK Thessaloniki (Greece-ESAK, 2003-04), Utah Jazz (NBA, 2004-05), released in January 2005, Prokom Trefl Sopot (Poland-PLK, 2005). Drafted in the First Round (#12) of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors

The tallest player at the EuroBasket. Aleksandar Radojevic’s 221 cm is exactly what the Bosnian team needs in the paint in order to cease being mere cannon fodder for its opponents. Alex is also one of the most controversial players around: after a successful college year at Barton County Community College (over 4 blocks per game!), he had reportedly been given several thousand dollars to move to Ohio State after his freshman season. A move that got the University’s coach Jim O’Brien fired and Radojevic branded ineligible to play. Alex needed the money to appease his poverty-stricken family back in Montenegro. His college career was cut short, but his tall frame made him a first round pick by the Raptors in 1999. Radojevic’s NBA career was far from illustrious and he moved to Europe after two quiet seasons. On the continent he played for a multitude of teams, before returning to the NBA for a couple of months with the Utah Jazz. He finished last season in Poland, playing for Sopot and averaging 6.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 9 Euroleague games. Big men like Radojevic don’t have to fear for their job, but as he approaches 30, Aleksandar might look back and realized he came close but never achieved a successful career…
