With hopes that his injury jinx is behind him, swingman Tomas returns to the national team for the first time since an ugly hamstring injury ended his EuroBasket 2011 tournament after only two games. Because of a similar reason, Tomas previously had to sit out EuroBasket 2009, and did not dress last summer for the Qualification Round due to surgery on his heel. He has been one of the main offensive threats over the years for Croatia, but also serves as the team's most reliable defender and as an important asset in controlling the glass. Tomas is a clutch performer, who can score in bunches and presents a nightmare match-up for opposing defences. That being said, it is understandable how his absences from the past tournaments were a big hit for a Croatian team that should now finally have a fully recovered Marko Tomas at their disposal.
