The 2005/2006 season is hugely important for the Lithuanian side.
Dominant on the domestic scene (they have won the last 6 league titles), Lietuvos made the leap to the European elite last season, reaching the Final Four of the EuroLeague Women and finishing in third place.
This year they are looking to go at least one better, and after six games and five wins, the Lithuanians are already setting a mark as early title contenders.
While US import Katie Douglas provides the scoring spark, Streimikyte's leadership and veteran experience are vital components to Lietuvos' success.
Although she has had some early problems with her offense in the EuroLeague Women, Streimikyte always finds a way to help her team.
She shot just 1/11 against Dynamo Moscow but grabbed seven rebounds and dished seven assists. Streimikyte also struggled with her shot against Valenciennes going 1/10 from the field. Nonetheless her eight rebounds and three assists were key factors in Lietuvos' 79-75 win.
Streimikyte is shooting just 33% from the field after six games and will certainly be looking to improve her outside touch. But with the 190cm forward averaging 3.8 assists per game (good for eighth among all players) and the team at 5-1, Lietuvos will certainly be happy with their star forward as well as their prospects in 2006.
