Scots Put Up A Fight, But Armenia Into Final


Hosts Armenia marched into the finals of the 2010 European Championship Women Division C on Friday with an 86-63 victory over Scotland.

The Scots tested Armenia early, taking a 12-10 lead on a Sarah O'Brien jumper with 1:11 left in the first quarter.

Rebecca Thoresen had 30 points and eight rebounds in Malta's big win.
It stayed tight early in the second quarter trailing 21-20 with 7:22 left in the half before the hosts turned on the style in the form of a 15-3 run that gave them a comfortable 13 point lead at the half.

They kept Scotland at arms length the rest of the way.

Amanda Jackson once again provided the scoring punch for the Armenians with 30 points on 58% shooting from the field.  She also added nine rebounds.

Christina Kepenekian also impressed for the home team with 25 points and seven rebounds.

Armenia will face Malta in the finals on Saturday after their 85-57 thumping of Moldova.

Rebecca Thoresen led the way with 30 points, eight rebounds and five steals in the victory.  Her team-mate Josephine Grima totaled a double-double with 22 points, 12 boards and three blocked shots.

Malta will face Armenia in the final on Saturday.
